At ISC 2024 in Hamburg we caught up with Bjorn Kolbeck, CEO and co-founder of high performance storage company Quobyte, which delivers software-defined scale up storage for AI workloads.

As Kolbeck explains, Quobyte comes from an HPC heritage as well as providing storage solutions for hyperscalers. “We wanted to bring HPC to the enterprise with the software approach that made the hyperscalers grow – and also grow efficiently,” Kolbeck told us. “Quobyte is a combination of hyperscaler technology, software-only, bringing scale-out storage for HPC workloads, such as AI, to the enterprise.”

He also brought us up to date on Quobyte’s latest news, the introduction of its new distributed File Query Engine, which enhances management of large-scale storage for enterprises and research environments with high-speed querying of file system metadata.

And Kolbeck updated us on customers, such as Siemens Healthineers and the success they’re having with Quobyte storage technology.
