Siemens and GlobalFoundries to Collaborate on AI-Driven Chip Manufacturing

Siemens and GlobalFoundries (GF) said today they have entered a collaboration to use their AI capabilities to enhance semiconductor manufacturing and advanced industries .

In a memorandum of understanding, the companies say they will focus on automation technologies for semiconductor fabrication, electrification, digital solutions and software ranging from chip development to product lifecycle management.

This includes deployment of AI-enabled software, sensors and real-time control systems in fab automation for reliable semiconductors and autonomous platforms.

“Through centralized automation and predictive maintenance, GF and Siemens aim to increase equipment availability and operational efficiency in chip production while building capabilities that can be extended to other advanced industries,” the companies said. “The companies intend to develop and deploy new solutions within their own operations to deliver enhanced offerings.”

The expanded collaboration comes at a time of high demand for essential semiconductors and autonomous platforms in areas such as AI, defense, energy and connectivity.
