Rennsselaer Polytechnic has officially confirmed plans from a partnership between IBM and AMD to use their [RPI's] BlueGene/L supercomputer to assist the design of AMD’s next chip. Among the traditional research workloads, the BlueGene will assist in achieving the target 32-nanometer design.
“I can confirm that IBM and AMD are planning to use our supercomputer to design the next generation of computer chips,” RPI spokesman Jason Gorss said Tuesday.
