Atipa Technologies, yesterday, announced several new installs at two Department of Energy locations. The new machines each have a peak performance in excess of 17.54 TFLOPS.
Successful completion of the Atipa Candor Clusters using Intel Xeon 5500 processors requires careful planning and dedicated project leaders to meet performance criteria,” said Mike Zheng, President of Atipa. “What impressed us with the Intel Xeon 5500 series,” Mr. Zheng stated, “was its balanced computing architecture. Intel’s new Nehalem microarchitecture balances processor performance, memory capacity, bandwidth and systems I/O. As a result, our customer experienced a substantial performance increase in both bandwidth and computationally sensitive workloads.
Each cluster has 262 Intel Xeon 5500 processors operating at 2.4Ghz and 7.1TB of memory. The grand total for each system coming to 2,090 cores. For more info, read the full release here.
