Digipede demo

John Powers, the head Fred over at Digipede, has posted a quick video showing how the Digipede Network can speed up a straightforward (but I suspect common) financial modeling use case using Excel and .Net code. He adds 20 lines of code to the original serial app, and the calculation runs in parallel on the 8 cores of the local machine (or on cores across your network).

It’s worth a watch if you’re still trying to grok exactly what small HPC users might do with the horsepower.

I really like the video format for this kind of presentation. I might or might not read a whitepaper on something like this, but I’m a true product of the Gilligan’s Island reruns I watched as a kid: if there are voices synched to moving pictures, I’ll sit mesmerized for minutes on end.
