Cray photoshop funny

A reader (hi, Randall!) sent me a pointer to this piece at Photoshop Disasters (originally seen at Hot Hardware), the relevant picture for which I’ve pasted in below.

Note the crazy angles that happen when the CX1 promo shot is pasted into a picture with completely different lighting and angles — yikes!

This is evidently from an actual Cray marketing brochure, but I don’t know whether this is from an interim, unreleased draft or whether this bad boy actually got out into the wild. If you know anything about this piece of ephemera, chime in on the comments. If it’s loose, I’d love to have a copy.

This would make a great poster :-)

  2. Jeff Squyres says:

I originally saw it on PhotoshopDisasters (which is a hilarious blog in itself):

Here’s where they cite the original:

  3. This definitely wasn’t at the HPoWS conference last week.

But to add to the stories of sales blunders: when I referred to the CX1 as a “personal supercomputer” in front of a Cray rep, the man said that they weren’t marketing it that way. I guess I’ll just have to go to SiCortex then…
