Video: March 11, 2011 Honshu Tsunami Propagation

The Honshu tsunami was generated by a Mw 8.9 earthquake 130 km east of Sendai, Honshu, Japan. This video shows the propagation of the tsunami in a simulation computed with the NOAA forecast method using MOST model with the tsunami source inferred from DART® data. This visualization comes to us from the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research, located at NOAA PMEL in Seattle, WA. Read the Full Story.

For the latest on the disaster, I highly recommend the new Sendai Earthquake Wikipedia page. I find it truly amazing that something this comprehensive could be put together in such a short time.

A tip of the hat goes to Chris Samuel for pointing us to this story.
