WSJ: GPUs Speed Up Risk Computations 40x at JP Morgan

The Wall Street Journal reports that JPMorgan is using Tesla GPU’s for risk calculations and finding tremendous improvement in time (40X) and accuracy.

Nvidia GPUs that have been added to J.P. Morgan servers–working as accelerators alongside x86 processors–have generated peak performance that is in excess of 100 times faster than microprocessors alone for some kinds of computing tasks, according to the companies. In more typical cases, the bank is getting a 40-fold speed-up while reducing costs by 80%, since fewer servers are needed to get the work done.

J.P. Morgan recently received a Banker’s Innovation in Banking Technology Award for its work with GPUs. Read the Full Story.
