Data storage vendor EMC Corp. said today that its second-quarter profit rose nearly 20 percent on double-digit sales gains in its biggest businesses. EMC posted its biggest revenue gain in more than two years.
The business grew on the strength of a 32% increas in sales in Asia, Japan and the Pacific. The company’s North American business also grew by 20% for the quarter.
Joe Tucci, EMC’s chairman, president and chief executive, told analysts on a conference call that he’s optimistic information technology spending will remain strong through the year’s end and drive further gains at EMC.
