In order to address the growing problem of efficiently managing heat in a data center, SGI has engineered a new cooling system for their Altix ICE 8200 blade server series. The system includes four chilled water heat exchangers on the inside of the exhaust door.
The goal is to return air to the data center at a temperature very near to ambient,” says Tim McCann, an SGI engineer involved in the design of the cooling system.
