Russian HPC vendor Niagara has installed a 600 Teraflop supercomputer at the State University of Nizhny Novgorod.
Named for the great Russian mathematician Nikolai Lobachevsky, the new system is the second-fastest supercomputer in Russia. The Lobachevsky supercomputer will be used to model processes in the field of particle acceleration.
Lobachevsky will become one of the top-50 most powerful supercomputers in the world,” said Alexander Pukhov, Director of the Department of Supercomputer Technology of UNN.
System configuration details were not released at press time, though I think it is interesting to note that Niagara is a Supermicro distributer. If Lobachevsky is based on their gear, this is certainly the biggest Supermicro system ever.
