The Jülich Supercomputing Centre in Germany is seeking a Computer Scientist in our Job of the Week.
The institute of Bio- and Geosciences – Agrosphere (IBG-3) contributes to an improved understanding and reliable prediction of hydrologic and biogeochemical processes in terrestrial systems. At IBG-3, modeling of the terrestrial system in supercomputer environments and the analyses of large data sets constitute central components of scientific and applied research. IBG-3 is also member of the Centre of High-Performance Scientific Computing in Terrestrial Systems (HPSC TerrSys), Geoverbund ABC/J, Germany. The Centre maintains a leading position in the development and application of parallel software technologies in the geosciences. Further information about the project can be found here: http://www.geoverbund-abcj.de/geoverbund/DE/Home/HPSC-TerrSys/hpsc-terrsys_n ode.html
You will develop and apply advanced geoscientific simulation software in high-performance computing environments of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre. You will directly support and independently advance the code development of existing and new parallel scientific software. The focus is placed on the adaption of existing, complex software to next generation heterogeneous supercomputer architectures. Additionally, you will maintain and develop parallel workflows for the performance of simulations, processing of large data sets, and experimental real-time forecasting. The position offers the unique possibility to work in an interdisciplinary team with state-of-the-art supercomputer technologies.
