Taipei, Taiwan, January 14th 2021 – Gigabyte Technology, (TWSE: 2376), maker of high-performance servers and workstations, today announced anew storage dense server, S251-3O0, for over 400TB of storage. This Intel Xeon Scalable-based server has up to 26 drive bays and seven expansion slots, while it targets software-defined storage, big data, virtualization, and media & content storage.
The S251-3O0 is a dense, 2U, data-centric server that can run a single 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor or Intel Xeon W-3200 processor. It supports processors with up to 28 cores (205W TDP). The S251-3O0 features a single Xeon processor paired with eight DIMM slots of DDR4 (up to 2933MHz) or a mix of DDR4 and Intel Optane Persistent Memory (PMem). To add NICs, storage, or accelerators, PCIe switches expand the number of PCIe lanes to seven, and all are low-profile slots. Expanding the storage capacity in a 2U chassis to allow for 24 x 3.5” HDD/SSD bays, a new design took shape with two sets of drive bays that have easy access from the sides. The default setting for the S251-3O0 supports 2 (rear) x 2.5” SATA drives and a single M.2 drive. When the included SAS expander pairs with an add-on SAS card in a PCIe slot, 24 x 3.5” HDD bays come on line for SATA or SAS drives. Furthermore, adding an optional NVMe HBA card can change support for the two rear bays from SATA to NVMe.
Gigabyte provides Gigabyte Management Console (GMC) for BMC server management via a web browser-based platform. Additionally, GIGABYTE Server Management (GSM) software is free to download and used to monitor and manage multiple servers. GMC and GSM offer great value while reducing license and customer maintenance costs.
