ALCF In-Person HPC Workshop, Oct. 29-31

The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility will host an in-person hands-on HPC workshop from Tuesday, Oct. 29 to Thursday, Oct. 31, at the TCS Conference Center at Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL.

The workshop will provide hands-on time on the Polaris supercomputer and AI testbeds focusing on porting applications to heterogeneous architectures (CPU + GPU), improving code performance, and exploring AI/ML applications development on ALCF systems.

Workshop participants will:

  • Work directly with ALCF staff and industry experts during dedicated hands-on sessions
  • Learn how to use available tools and frameworks to improve productivity and performance
  • Hear from researchers running on early Aurora hardware
  • Tour Argonne facilities, including Aurora

The workshop tracks will be built around HPC tools, programming models, AI/ML, workflows, vis, etc. ALCF asks registrants to share their interests in the registration form to better shape the agenda to attendees’ needs.

Attendees who wish to stay onsite are encouraged book rooms on the Argonne Guest House website. There will be a free shuttle to and from the guest house during the workshop. Argonne will not cover the cost of travel or lodging.

Registrants will be reviewed for experience level and will be asked to provide both a research summary and goals for attending the workshop.

The following restrictions apply to foreign nationals:

  • Foreign nationals from countries that appear on a restricted foreign country listing in section 15 CFR 740.7 License Exceptions for Computers (namely, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria) require a very lengthy approval process for access to DOE supercomputers, which will not complete in time for the workshop.  Therefore, citizens of these countries are not eligible to apply for participation.
  • Foreign nationals from countries other than those listed above will need a valid passport, visa, and supporting documents with an expiration date beyond the end of the training program.  Department of Energy policy now require a CV/resume including educational and employment history.
