LLNL seeks to fill the position of Associate Director (AD) for Computation, a position key to the continued success of LLNL’s world-premier high performance computing, computer science, and data science enterprise. The AD for Computation is responsible for the leadership of an organization of approximately 1,000 staff who develop and deploy an integrated computing environment for advanced simulation of complex physical phenomena in support of LLNL’s national security missions. Areas include Stockpile Stewardship, non-proliferation, biodefense, and energy security. The environment includes high performance computers, scientific visualization, high performance storage systems, network connectivity, multi-resolution data analysis, mathematical models, scalable numerical algorithms, computer applications, information technologies, desktop support, computer security and necessary services to enable Laboratory mission goals and scientific discovery through simulation, and workforce and business facilitation through advanced IT.
