Video: SGI UV Finds the Needle in the Big Data Haystack

In this video, Dr. Eng Lim Goh explains what Hadoop Clusters are and how the SGI UV family of supercomputers can help you find the proverbial needle in the haystack of Big Data. It’s an old analogy, but a particularly effective one for explaining how Hadoop works in layman’s terms.

According to IDC, SGI has shipped approximately 8 percent of of all the Hadoop servers in production today. In fact, did you know that SGI introduced the word “Big Data” to supercomputing in 1996? (NOTE: Straw was substituted for actual hay to avoid any potential allergic reactions.)
