In this video from the HPC User Forum in Tucson, Jeff Stuecheli from IBM presents: POWER9 for AI & HPC.

“Built from the ground-up for data intensive workloads, POWER9 is the only processor with state-of-the-art I/O subsystem technology, including next generation NVIDIA NVLink, PCIe Gen4, and OpenCAPI.”

The latest addition to the POWER processor family delivers up to 1.5x the performance of its POWER8 predecessor. Built on OPEN standards with accelerated bandwidth and compute options, this revolutionary architecture forms the foundation for your most advanced workloads.

Jeff Stuecheli works as a computer architect on the POWER line of systems. His primary area of focus is the development of performance enhancements of the memory subsystem. This includes caches, prefetch, networks, memory, and IO structures in the system.

In related news this week, IBM just announced the integration of PowerAI Vision and IBM Intelligent Video Analytics, allowing organizations to build customized AI models for detecting objects or activities of interest that can be easily integrated into IVA for easy model deployment.
