- Quantum Startup Rigetti Computing Raises $64 Million in Funding. Today Rigetti Computing, a leading quantum computing start-up, announced it has raised $64 million in Series A and B funding. “Quantum computing will enable people to tackle a whole new set of problems that were previously unsolvable,” said Chad Rigetti, founder and chief executive officer of Rigetti Computing. “This is the next generation of advanced computing technology. The potential to make a positive impact on humanity is enormous.”
- Rex Computing has their produced their processing chip and thing works. With a little help from some DARPA funding, they taped out about a month ago and the initial results are very encouraging.
- Intel has brought their first Octane branded SSDs to market. Based on the 3D XPoint technology developed with Micron, the devices offer 3X performance of traditional NAND at three times the price (at least initially).
- The GW4 unveiled the ARM-based Isambard supercomputer at the UK Met Office. The announcement was part of the launch of six HPC Centers in the UK.
