Today Intel unveiled new products designed to accelerate AI system development and deployment from cloud to edge. “In its key announcement, Intel demonstrated its Intel Nervana Neural Network Processors (NNP) for training (NNP-T1000) and inference (NNP-I1000) — Intel’s first purpose-built ASICs for complex deep learning with incredible scale and efficiency for cloud and data center customers. Intel also revealed its next-generation Intel Movidius Myriad Vision Processing Unit (VPU) for edge media, computer vision and inference applications.”
Why Hardware Acceleration Is The Next Battleground In Processor Design
In this special guest feature, Theodore Omtzigt from Stillwater Supercomputing writes that as workloads specialize due to scale, hardware accelerated solutions will continue to be cheaper than approaches that utilize general purpose components. “If you’re a CIO who manages integrations of third-party hardware and software, be aware of new hardware acceleration technologies that can reduce the cost of service delivery by orders of magnitude.”
The AI Future is Closer than it Seems
Gadi Singer gave this talk at the Intel HPC Developer Conference in Denver. “Technology visionaries architecting the future of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) will share the key challenges as well as Intel’s direction. The talk will cover the adaptation of AI into HPC workflows, along their perspective architectural developments, upcoming transitions and range of solutions, technology opportunities, and the driving forces behind them.”
Intel and the Coming AI Revolution
In this video from the Intel HPC Developer Conference, Gadi Singer from Intel describes how the company is moving forward with Artificial Intelligence. “We are deeply committed to unlocking the promise of AI: conducting research on neuromorphic computing, exploring new architectures and learning paradigms.”
Intel’s Diane Bryant on How AI Will Change Lives
“Artificial Intelligence will deliver the next wave of societal transformation on parallel with the industrial, technical and internet revolutions that preceded it. As our AI-fueled future evolves, we have a tremendous opportunity to address opportunities from scare resource utilization and scientific exploration to inclusion and human rights expansion. Intel Executive VP Diane Bryant will share Intel’s vision for unleashing AI as well as a perspective on how to accelerate the delivery of #AIforgood.”
