Pointwise ISV is Finalist for Small Business of the Year

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce has named Pointwise a finalist for 2018 Small Business of the Year award. Pointwise, Inc. is solving the top problem facing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) today – reliably generating high-fidelity meshes. The company’s Pointwise software generates structured, unstructured, overset and hybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers such as ANSYS FLUENT, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, and SU2 as well as many neutral formats, such as CGNS; runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, and has a scripting language, Glyph, that can automate CFD meshing.

Cray Sets New Supercomputing Record with HLRS and Ansys

ANSYS, HLRS and Cray have pushed the boundaries of supercomputing by achieving a new supercomputing milestone by scaling ANSYS software to 172,032 cores on the Cray XC40 supercomputer, hosted at HLRS, running at 82 percent efficiency. This is nearly a 5x increase over the record set two years ago when Fluent was scaled to 36,000 cores. “This record-setting scaling of ANSYS software on the Cray XC40 supercomputer at HLRS proves that close collaborations with customers and partners can produce exceptional results for running complex simulations,” said Fred Kohout, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Cray.

Cray Scales Fluent to 129,000 Compute Cores

Today Cray announced a world record by scaling ANSYS Fluent to 129,000 compute cores. “Less than a year ago, ANSYS announced Fluent had scaled to 36,000 cores with the help of NCSA. While the nearly 4x increase over the previous record is significant, it tells only part of the story. ANSYS has broadened the scope of simulations allowing for applicability to a much broader set of real-world problems and products than any other company offers.”
