Supermicro Powers Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization

Today Supermicro introduced multiple systems tailored to work with a leading open, hyperconverged software offering, Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure. Supermicro collaborated with Red Hat to develop advanced configurations based on industry-leading Supermicro servers featuring the latest technologies. These systems, available now, give customers new options when architecting infrastructure.

Reimagining HPC Compute and Storage Architecture with Intel Optane Technology

Andrey Kudryavtsev from Intel gave this talk at the DDN User Group in Denver. “Intel Optane DC SSDs are proven technologies that have helped data centers remove storage bottlenecks and accelerate application performance for the past two years. Now, the launch of Intel Optane persistent memory and the integrated support of 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors is further shrinking the gap between storage and DRAM. Together, Intel Optane DC persistent memory and Intel Optane SSDs deliver value across four crucial vectors.”

Intel Optane comes to new Inspur Storage Products

Inspur recently launched all-flash storage systems with dual-port Intel Optane SSDs. “With the Optane SSD as the high-speed cache layer, AS5000G5-F combines innovative technologies such as intelligent data layering, on-board hardware acceleration and online compression/deduplication, which achieves up to 8 million IOPS and a latency of 0.1ms, representing one of the highest performing mid-range storage systems available in the industry.”

NEXTGenIO Project Delivers Prototype to EPCC

The EPCC supercomputing centre at the University of Edinburgh has installed a prototype system developed by the NEXTGenIO project. Funded by the European Commission, NEXTGenIO is an R&D project tasked with developing solutions to high performance computing’s I/O and data challenges. “Our ongoing collaboration with NEXTGenIO allows us to develop solutions to speed up time-consuming I/O operations in HPC applications and workflows, leading to faster execution, less use of resources, and improved scalability,” said Trish Damkroger from Intel.

Today Supermicro announced that its new 4-socket servers featuring 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory are now shipping in volume. “Using 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory, these servers deliver tremendous performance boost for in-memory computing all at a dramatically lower cost compared to the previous generation architectures.”

Supermicro Early Shipments Available: Intel Xeon Servers with Optane DC Persistent Memory

Today Supermicro launched its Early Shipment Program for servers and storage systems that customers can validate using next-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors which are expected to be officially released later this year. “Supermicro’s entire X11 portfolio is optimized to fully leverage the next-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and future innovations including Intel Optane DC persistent memory and Intel Deep Learning Boost technology to enable more efficient AI (artificial intelligence) acceleration.”
