Radio Free HPC Looks at Eclipse Simulations

In this podcast, the Radio Free HPC team discusses the eclipse and how researchers are using supercomputers to simulate the corona of the sun at eclipse time. After that, look at the the top Technology stories in our Catch of the Week:

Microsoft Acquires Cycle Computing

Today Microsoft announced it has acquired Cycle Computing, a software company focused on making cloud computing resources more readily available for HPC workloads. “Now supporting InfiniBand and accelerated GPU computing, Microsoft Azure looks to be a perfect home for Cycle Computing, which started its journey with software for aggregating compute resources at AWS. The company later added similar capabilities for Azure and Google Cloud.”

Cycle Computing’s Tim Carroll on how Dell EMC Powers Cloud HPC

In this video from the Dell EMC HPC Community meeting, Tim Carroll from Cycle Computing describes how the company makes it easier to move big HPC workloads to the Cloud with the help of Dell EMC. “Dell EMC has embraced the notion that hybrid environments of internal and external resources will be the optimal path for customers.”

Supercomputing the Hyperloop on Azure

Today Cycle Computing announced that the HyperXite team is using CycleCloud software to manage Hyperloop simulations using ANSYS Fluent on the Azure Cloud. “Our mission is optimize and economize the transportation of the future and Cycle Computing has made that endeavor so much easier, said Nima Mohseni, Simulation Lead, HyperXite. “We absolutely require a solution that can compress and condense our timeline while providing the powerful computational results we require. Thank you to Cycle Computing for making a significant difference in our ability to complete our work.”

ANSYS Enterprise Cloud goes with Cycle Computing for HPC

“Our collaboration with Cycle Computing enables the ANSYS Enterprise Cloud to meet the elastic capacity and security requirements of enterprise customers,” said Ray Milhem, vice president, Enterprise Solutions and Cloud, ANSYS. “CycleCloud has run some of the largest Cloud Big Compute and Cloud HPC projects in the world, and we are excited to bring their associated, proven software capability to our global customers with the ANSYS Enterprise Cloud.”

Dell EMC & Cycle Computing to offer Cloud Software and Services for HPC

Today Cycle Computing announced that Dell EMC will offer its software and services as an option with Dell EMC HPC Systems.

At Dell EMC, we are constantly looking for the best ways to serve our customers, and Cycle Computing is a valuable addition to our HPC offerings,” said Jim Ganthier, senior vice president, Validated Solutions, and HPC organization, Dell EMC. “With Cycle, Dell EMC will be the first to offer ‘crate to cloud’ for HPC in a matter of hours and will help our customers accelerate time to results while reducing cost and complexity.”

Podcast: How Cycle Computing is Riding the Wave of HPC in the Cloud

In this podcast, Jason Stowe from Cycle Computing provides an update on the world of HPC in the Cloud. After that, he describes how the company is augmenting its software capabilities so that more users can take advantage of HPC for their toughest computing challenges. “Our CycleCloud V6 further optimizes what is already unique about its predecessor, bringing unmatched scalability, provisioning, and data management in a secure process. We are extremely pleased to bring V6 to market.”

CycleCloud V6 spins up HPC Clusters in the Cloud

“CycleCloud has made an impact on a host of use cases – from our recently announced NASA Sub-Saharan carbon-emissions project to needs in the financial sector, manufacturing and life sciences. CycleCloud has saved countless hours overcoming the challenges typically associated with Cloud HPC and brought in real ROI,” said Jason Stowe, CEO, Cycle Computing. “Our CycleCloud V6 further optimizes what is already unique about its predecessor, bringing unmatched scalability, provisioning, and data management in a secure process. We are extremely pleased to bring V6 to market.”

Video: Cycle Computing Works with Dell to Deliver More Science for More Users

In this this video from ISC 2016, Tim Carroll describes how Cycle Computing is working with Dell Technologies to deliver more science for more users. Cycle Computing’s CycleCloud software suite is the leading cloud orchestration, provisioning, and data management platform for Big Compute, Big Data, and large technical computing applications running on any public, private, or internal environment.

Cycle Computing Publishes Cloud-Agnostic Glossary

Today Cycle Computing announced the Cloud-Agnostic Glossary, a solution brief written by Cycle Computing executives to help customers understand the different terms the different providers use and how they relate. “Technology keeps evolving, terms keep changing, and because of this, we were inspired to stop and take a moment to develop a glossary to keep track of meanings in real time, and according to vendor,” said Jason Stowe, CEO, Cycle Computing. “We ended up with this great solution brief, worthy of reading and sharing. It’s a useful document that we plan to update regularly.”
