Cavium ThunderX2 Processors Power new Baymax HyperScale Server Platforms

Today Inventec in Taiwan announced Baymax, a new server platform optimized for Cloud compute, high-performance cloud storage and Big Data applications based on Cavium’s second-generation 64-bit ARMv8 ThunderX2 processors. “Inventec’s success as world’s largest server ODM has been based on our compelling designs and manufacturing expertise and our ability to deliver leading edge cost effective server platforms to world’s largest mega scale datacenters,” said Evan Chien, Senior Director of Inventec Server Business Unit 6. “Earlier this year Inventec’s customers requested platforms based on Cavium’s ThunderX2 ARMv8 processors, and the new Baymax platform is the first platform being delivered.”

Mellanox Technology Accelerates the World’s Fastest Supercomputer

Today Mellanox announced that the company’s interconnect technology accelerates the world’s fastest supercomputer at the supercomputing center in Wuxi, China. The new number one supercomputer delivers 93 Petaflops (3 times higher compared to the previous top system), connecting nearly 41 thousand nodes and more than ten million CPU cores. The offloading architecture of the Mellanox interconnect solution is the key to providing world leading performance, scalability and efficiency, connecting the highest number of nodes and CPU cores within a single supercomputer.

Dell Unveils Triton Liquid Cooling Technology

“Because water can transport heat 25 times more efficiently than air, ‘Triton’ can run high performing components faster and more efficiently than traditional air-cooled systems. Its ability to sub-cool the processor and operate at higher frequencies means that Triton can deliver up to 59% greater performance than the popular Intel Xeon processor E5-2680v4 for similar costs.”
