Fujitsu Powers KNL Remote Access Program with Intel HPC Orchestrator

Kyushu University Orders Fujitsu Supercomputer

Today Fujitsu announced an order from the Research Institute for Information Technology at Kyushu University for a new supercomputer system for deployment in October 2017. “This system will consist of over 2,000 servers, including the Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY CX400, the next-generation model of Fujitsu’s x86 server. It is expected to offer top-class performance in Japan, providing a theoretical peak performance of about 10 petaflops. This will also be Japan’s first supercomputer system featuring a large-scale private cloud environment constructed on a front-end sub system, linked with a computational server of a back-end sub system through a high-speed file system.”

Fujitsu and 1QBit Collaborate on Quantum-Inspired AI Cloud Service

Nvidia to Power Fujitsu’s New Deep Learning System at RIKEN

Today Fujitsu announced that it has received RIKEN’s order for the “Deep learning system,” one of the largest supercomputers in Japan specializing in AI research. “NVIDIA DGX-1, the world’s first all-in-one AI supercomputer, is designed to meet the enormous computational needs of AI researchers,” said Jim McHugh, VP & GM at Nvidia. “Powered by 24 DGX-1s, the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project’s system will be the most powerful DGX-1 customer installation in the world. Fujitsu Develops New Architecture for Combinatorial Optimization

Today Fujitsu Laboratories announced a collaboration with the University of Toronto to develop a new computing architecture to tackle a range of real-world issues by solving combinatorial optimization problems that involve finding the best combination of elements out of an enormous set of element combinations. “This architecture employs conventional semiconductor technology with flexible circuit configurations to allow it to handle a broader range of problems than current quantum computing can manage. In addition, multiple computation circuits can be run in parallel to perform the optimization computations, enabling scalability in terms of problem size and processing speed.”

Fujitsu Cluster to Power Super-Kamiokande Neutrino Experiments

Today Fujitsu announced that the company has received an order for an experiment-analysis system from Kamioka Observatory, part of the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR) at the University of Tokyo. The system is destined for Kamioka Observatory’s Super-Kamiokande facility, which is helping to shed light on the workings of the universe through the observation of neutrinos, and is scheduled to go operational in March 2017.
