Red Hat Showcases ThunderX 2 Development Platform for HPC

In this video, Jon Masters from Red Hat describes the company’s multi-architecture solutions that were on display at ISC 2017. “Developing new and adapting existing highly scalable applications to take advantage of the new technological advances across multiple deployment domains is the greatest challenge facing HPC sites. This is where the operating system can provide a unified interface to the underlying hardware and interconnects and serve as a foundation for modular and standardized application stacks that take advantage of enhanced system capabilities.”

Intel® HPC Orchestrator and OpenHPC: Trends and Directions

Sharing a common architecture, Intel® HPC Orchestrator and OpenHPC are changing the face of HPC by providing a cohesive and comprehensive system software stack. Dr. Robert Wisniewski, Chief Software Architect Extreme Scale Computing at Intel Corporation, discusses the advantages of this approach and how to leverage it to bring together HPC and the cloud.

Intel® Architecture Deployment at Texas Tech University Relies on Intel® HPC Orchestrator

When it came time to perform a substantial upgrade of the TTU IT Division’s High Performance Computing Center at Texas Tech University, the challenge was to easily manage such a large expansion, which would effectively double the center’s parallel computing capacity. Since the existing 10,000+ core system includes several equipment generations, as well as the latest technology from Intel, HPCC staff at TTU chose Intel® HPC Orchestrator for the task. In this article, Alan Sill, Senior Director of the TTU HPCC, explains why.

OpenHPC: A Comprehensive System Software Stack

Bob Wisniewski from Intel presents: OpenHPC: A Cohesive and Comprehensive System Software Stack. “OpenHPC is a collaborative, community effort that initiated from a desire to aggregate a number of common ingredients required to deploy and manage High Performance Computing (HPC) Linux clusters including provisioning tools, resource management, I/O clients, development tools, and a variety of scientific libraries.

vScaler to Showcase OpenHPC & Deep Learning at Cloud Expo Europe 2017

Today vScaler announced plans to showcase their HPC cloud platform March 15-16 at the upcoming Cloud Expo Europe Conference in London. Supported by two of its strategic technology partners – Aegis Data and Global Cloud Xchange, vScaler will showcase its application specific cloud platform, with experts on hand to discuss use cases such as HPC, Broadcast & Media, Big Data, Finance and Storage, as well as data centre innovation and co-location. “We provide full application stacks for a range of verticals as well as on-demand consultancy from our expert team,” said David Power, vScaler CTO. “Our tailor-made, software-defined infrastructure cuts away time wasted on the distractions of setup and enables our users to concentrate on the task at hand.”

Speeding Workloads at the Dell EMC HPC Innovation Lab

The Dell EMC HPC Innovation Lab, substantially powered by Intel, has been established to provide customers best practices for configuring and tuning systems and their applications for optimal performance and efficiency through blogs, whitepapers and other resources. “Dell is utilizing the lab’s world-class Infrastructure to characterize performance behavior and to test and validate upcoming technologies.”

Intel HPC Orchestrator Powers Research at University of Pisa

In this video, Maurizio Davini from the University of Pisa describe how the University works with Dell EMC and Intel to test new technologies, integrate and optimize HPC systems with Intel HPC Orchestrator software. “We believe these two companies are at the forefront of innovation in high performance computing,” said University CTO Davini. “We also share a common goal of simplifying HPC to support a broader range of users.”

Simplify Cluster Deployment with Intel HPC Orchestrator

“Intel HPC Orchestrator simplifies the installation, management, and ongoing maintenance of an HPC system by reducing the amounft of integration and validation effort required to run an HPC system software stack. With Intel HPC Orchestrator, based on the OpenHPC system software stack, you can take advantage of the innovation driven by the open source community – while also getting peace of mind from Intel® support across the HPC system software stack.”

OpenHPC now available on ARM at SC16

Over at the ARM Connected Community, Darren Cepulis, writes that the popular chip platform is now part of the OpenHPC community. As one of a series of strategic moves, the effort should help bolster ARM as a platform for high performance computing.

Facilitate HPC Deployments with Reference Designs for Intel Scalable System Framework

With Intel Scalable System Framework Architecture Specification and Reference Designs, the company is making it easier to accelerate the time to discovery through high-performance computing. The Reference Architectures (RAs) and Reference Designs take Intel Scalable System Framework to the next step—deploying it in ways that will allow users to confidently run their workloads and allow system builders to innovate and differentiate designs
