SMART Global Holdings Acquires Penguin Computing for $85 Million

Today SMART Global Holdings, Inc. announced that it has acquired HPC vendor Penguin Computing. “Penguin will continue as a standalone operation being the first part of a new business unit, SMART Specialty Compute & Storage Solutions (SCSS), which will benefit from shared infrastructure and the ability to leverage the products and capabilities of SMART’s Specialty Memory business unit into the emerging AI and ML markets.”

Penguin Computing to share AI Best Practices at GPU Technology Conference

Today Penguin Computing announced that Director of Advanced Solutions, Kevin Tubbs, Ph.D., will be speaking at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) on best practices in artificial intelligence. “On the second day of the conference, Tubbs will lead the “Best Practices in Designing and Deploying End-to-End HPC and AI Solutions” session. Intel Xeon Scalable Processors come to Penguin on Demand HPC Cloud

Penguin Computing has announced plans to deploy more than 11,500 cores of the latest Intel Xeon Scalable processor in their Penguin Computing On-Demand HPC cloud. “The latest Intel Xeon Scalable processor expansion will provide an ideal compute environment for MPI workloads that can leverage thousands of cores for computation. We have significant customer demand for POD HPC cloud in applicable areas like high-resolution weather forecasting and computational fluid dynamics, including solutions from software partners like ANSYS, Flow Science and CD-adapco.”

Penguin Computing Launches NVIDIA Tesla V100-based Servers

DOE Labs Adopt Asetek Liquid Cooling

Today Asetek announced two incremental orders from Penguin Computing, an established data center OEM. The orders are for Asetek’s RackCDU D2C™ (Direct-to-Chip) liquid cooling solution and will enable increased computing power for two currently undisclosed HPC sites at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories.

HPC Vendors showcase plans for ARM products
