Rescale Brings HPC Workloads to the Cloud at SC17

In this video from SC17, Gabriel Broner from Rescale describes how the company brings HPC Workloads to the Cloud. “Rescale offers HPC in the cloud for engineers and scientists, delivering computational performance on-demand. Using the latest hardware architecture at cloud providers and supercomputing centers, Rescale enables users to extend their on-premise system with optimized HPC in the cloud.”

Rescale Cloud adds HPE and SGI Server Capability

Today Rescale announced that it will support HPE and SGI servers on its HPC platform, allowing HPE customers to seamlessly access and manage a hybrid environment of cloud and on-premises HPC systems in a single unified platform solution. “Rescale is very excited to offer hybrid HPC access to the largest hardware user community worldwide,” said Gabriel Broner, VP and GM of HPC at Rescale. “Rescale has expertise working with multi-cloud and multi-architecture technology, and the ScaleX Enterprise platform is ideally suited to managing various hardware resources and providing a hybrid path to cloud expansion for HPE and SGI users.”

Rescale & X-ISS offer Professional Services for HPC Cloud Migration

Today Rescale announced a partnership with X-ISS to offer professional services to enterprises migrating HPC workloads to the cloud. “At X-ISS, we are very excited to partner with Rescale to eliminate the compute ceilings and queuing wait times that our customers sometimes deal with. Together, X-ISS and Rescale will provide a comprehensive HPC solution and services that will delight our joint customers,” said Deepak Khosla at X-ISS.

Intel Xeon Scalable Processors power new AWS C5 Instances for HPC

Today, Amazon Web Services announced the availability of C5 instances, the next generation of compute optimized instances for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). Designed for compute-heavy applications like batch processing, distributed analytics, and HPC, C5 instances feature 3.0 GHz Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Skylake-SP) up to 72 vCPUs, and 144 GiB of memory—twice the vCPUs and memory of previous generation C4 instances—providing the best price-performance of any Amazon EC2 instance.

Video: Will HPC Move to the Cloud?

Gabriel Broner from Rescale gave this talk at the HPC User Forum. “HPC has transitioned from unique and proprietary designs, to clusters of many dual-CPU Intel nodes. Vendors’ products are now differentiated more by packaging, density, and cooling than the uniqueness of the architecture. In parallel, cloud computing has gained momentum in the larger IT industry. Intel is now selling more processors to run in the cloud than in company-owned facilities, and cloud is starting to drive innovation and efficiencies at a rate faster than on premises.”

X2 Firebird CAE Software Comes to Rescale HPC Cloud

Today Rescale announced plans to offer X2 Firebird CAE software on the company’s ScaleX cloud HPC platform. X2 Firebird will be deployed as the first on-demand, cloud-only numerical simulation software for scientists and engineers on Rescale. X2 Firebird leverages the latest in systems programming and parallel computing, enabling real-time team collaboration on complex technical projects. This […]

Gabriel Broner on Why Cloud is the Next Disruption in HPC

“Like the previous disruptions of clusters vs. monolithic systems or Linux vs. proprietary operating systems, cloud changes the status quo, takes us out of our comfort zone, and gives us a sense of lack of control. But the effect of price, the flexibility to dynamically change your system size and choose the best architecture for the job, the availability of applications, the ability to select system cost based on the needs of a particular workload, and the ability to provision and run immediately, will prove very attractive for HPC users.”

Rescale to Enable Fast and Secure Data Transfer to the Cloud with Equinix

“Although many enterprises have already made the move to cloud for certain data services, many are reluctant to make the move for one of their largest investments: on-premise, high-performance computing,” said Tyler Smith, Head of Partnerships at Rescale. “Rescale helps ease the migration process with a hybrid and burst solution, making best use of existing and cloud resources in tandem, and the partnership with Equinix adds a compelling layer of ultra high-speed data transfer and best-in-class security, while allowing the enterprise to keep their preferred private/public cloud model.”

Rescale Partners with HPC Systems in Japan

Today Rescale announced a channel partnership with HPC Systems Inc., a high-performance computing hardware integrator based in Japan, to deliver Rescale’s ScaleX big compute platform to the Japanese market beginning July 2017. “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with HPC Systems, whose diverse services and products have a proven track record in Japanese computational science,” said Rescale’s CEO Joris Poort. “Our partnership will provide joint customers with new potential for innovation and will accelerate research in materials and drug development and discovery.”
