Video: NVIDIA Accelerates Conversational AI

In this video, NVIDIA’s Bryan Catanzaro explains how recent breakthroughs in natural language understanding bring us one step closer to conversational AI. “Today NVIDIA announced breakthroughs in language understanding that allow businesses to engage more naturally with customers using real-time conversational AI. “NVIDIA’s groundbreaking work accelerating these models allows organizations to create new, state-of-the-art services that can assist and delight their customers in ways never before imagined.”

Intel Xeon Scalable Processors Set Deep Learning Performance Record on ResNet-50

Today Intel announced a deep learning performance record on image classification workloads. “Today, we have achieved leadership performance of 7878 images per second on ResNet-50 with our latest generation of Intel Xeon Scalable processors, outperforming 7844 images per second on Nvidia Tesla V100, the best GPU performance as published by Nvidia on its website including T4.”

Mellanox HDR 200G InfiniBand Speeds Machine Learning with NVIDIA

Today Mellanox announced that its HDR 200G InfiniBand with the “Scalable Hierarchical Aggregation and Reduction Protocol” (SHARP) technology has set new performance records, doubling deep learning operations performance. The combination of Mellanox In-Network Computing SHARP with NVIDIA 100 Tensor Core GPU technology and Collective Communications Library (NCCL) deliver leading efficiency and scalability to deep learning and artificial intelligence applications.

Video: Unified Memory on Summit (Power9 + V100)

Jeff Larkin from NVIDIA gave this talk at the Summit Application Readiness Workshop. The event had the primary objective of providing the detailed technical information and hands-on help required for select application teams to meet the scalability and performance metrics required for Early Science proposals. Technical representatives from the IBM/NVIDIA Center of Excellence will be delivering a few plenary presentations, but most of the time will be set aside for the extended application teams to carry out hands-on technical work on Summit.”

Penguin Computing to Deploy Supercomputer at ICHEC in Ireland

Today Penguin Computing (a subsidiary of SMART Global Holdings) announced that it will deliver the new national supercomputer to the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) at the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway. “With 11 supercomputers in the Top500 list and a bare-metal HPC Cloud service since 2009, we knew we could rely on Penguin Computing’s HPC expertise to address our needs in an innovative way.”
