Lenovo Launches ThinkSystem Servers with GPU Support, Increased NVMe Storage
Lenovo this morning launched two new ThinkSystem servers, the SR860 V2 and SR850 V2, utilizing 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel Deep Learning Boost, along with introduction of GPU support on the SR860 V2 (four double-wide 300W or eight single-wide GPUs). The servers also offer increased NVMe storage capacity for handling AI workloads, high end VDI deployments and data analytics.
Lenovo Takes the TOP500 with Liquid Cooling at ISC 2018
In this video from ISC 2018, Rick Koopman from Lenovo describes the company’s latest HPC innovations including their new Neptune liquid cooling technology. Lenovo is the world’s largest TOP500 supercomputing provider measured by the number of systems ranked on the TOP500 list. 117 of the 500 most powerful supercomputers included in the TOP500 are Lenovo installations, meaning nearly one out of every four systems (23.4 percent) on the prestigious list is a Lenovo solution.

Today Lenovo unveiled the addition of 1,500 ultra-dense Lenovo ThinkSystem SD530 high-performance compute nodes for Niagara – Canada’s most-powerful research supercomputer. As the demand for high performance computing in quantitative research increases rapidly, the 4.6 Petaflop supercomputer will help Canadian researchers achieve meaningful results in artificial intelligence, astrophysics, climate change, oceanic research and other disciplines using big data.

In this video from ISC 2017, Rick Koopman from Lenovo describes the company’s innovative solutions for HPC. “Lenovo recently announced the delivery of one of the most powerful systems – among the first in the world based on Intel Xeon Platinum processor family – to Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The BSC MareNostrum 4 supercomputer, tasked with jobs in science and engineering research, incorporates 48 racks with more than 3,400 nodes with next generation Intel Xeon processors and a central memory of 390 Terabytes. Its peak power will be over 11 Petaflops.”
